സി. കേശവന്‍ (1891-1969), ജനനം  23rd മെയ് 1891 (ഇടവം 11, 1066) , മയ്യനാട് , കൊല്ലം.
ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം എറണാകുളം മഹാരാജാസ് കോളേജിലും , തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തും (നിയമ ബിരുദം) . 
Feb1951 – 12 March 1952  തിരുവിതാംകൂര്‍ – കൊച്ചി സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി .
1933 – 1935  കാലയളവില്‍   എസ്. എന്‍. ഡി . പി . യോഗം ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി . 
1949 ല്‍ സ്റ്റേറ്റ് കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന്റെ പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ആയിരുന്നു . ഈ സമയത്തായിരുന്നു ട്രാവന്‍കൂര്‍ – കൊച്ചി സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ ലയനം. 
ശ്രീ നാരായണ ഗുരു , ഗാന്ധിജി , കാറല്‍ മാക്സ്  തുടങ്ങിയവരുടെ സിദ്ദാന്തങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രേരിതനായി സാമൂഹിക തിന്മകള്‍ക്കെതിരെ പോരാടി. തിരുവിതാംകൂര്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രെസിന്റെ പ്രമുഖനായ നേതാവായിരുന്നു.   നിരവധി തവണ ജയില്‍വാസം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു . ജനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നും പിരിവെടുത്ത് ” കൌമുദി ” എന്ന പത്രം ആരംഭിച്ചു.  എന്നാല്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിനെതിരായ കനത്ത കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തല്‍ മൂലം  ഗവണ്മെന്റ്  ഇതിന്റെ ലൈസെന്‍സ് എടുത്തു കളഞ്ഞു. 
ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ” ജീവിത സമരം ” എന്ന ജീവചരിത്രം ശ്രെദ്ധേയമാണ് .


c_kesavanC. Kesavan (1891-1969) was one of the Triumvirate of Travancore (Thiruvithaamkoor) State Congress leadership, the other two being Pattom Thanu Pillai and T. M. Varghese. Born in an ordinary Ezhava family of Mayyanad near Kollam on May 23, 1891 (Edavam 11, 1066), he studied in Kollam, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram. For some time he worked as a teacher and then took a law degree from Thiruvananthapuram and started practice in Kollam.

He was influenced by the teachings of Sri Narayana Guru, Gandhiji and Karl Marx. He worked for temperance and eradication of untouchability and served as General Secretary of SNDP Yogam. From 1933 he was one of the prominent leaders of the Abstention movement of Travancore. Because of a speech he made at a public meeting in Kozhencherry he was arrested on June 7, 1935, tried for sedition, and sentenced to two years imprisonment.

On the advice of Sri Narayanaguru, C.Kesavan took a degree in Law and opened legal practice in Kollam and Trivandrum courts. During Kesavan was attracted to National Freedom Struggle and began participating in the same. He planned to fight caste system on taking up the leadership of SNDP(Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana)Yogam. In 1933 he became the General Secretary of the SNDP Yogam. and along with this elevation he co-ordinated the activities of christians and muslims. In association with christians and muslims he formed the Joint Political Congress soon and started the historical ‘Nivarthana Prakshobhanam’(Liberation struggle of the weaker communities). In 1935 he was jailed on a charge of treason, misinterpreting his speech. But due to public fury Government changed its stand. Later Govt sanctioned representation in the Assembly on the basis of Adult Franchise, issued Temple Entry Proclamation and instituted Public Service Commission .Later he started a Newspaper called ‘Kaumudi’ utilising the funds collected from the public. Govt cancelled its licence due to severe criticism. ‘

He became a minister in the first Ministry of Travancore formed by Pattom Thanupillai. At the time of unification of Travancore and Cochin states Sri. Kesavan was the president of state congress(1949). In 1951 on the resignation of Sri. T. K. Narayana Pillai as Chief Minister of Travancore state in order to prevent a political crisis he was the acting Chief Minister from 2 Feb1951 to 12 March 1952. Subsequent to this he was president of the provincial congress committee. He eventually retracted from active politics. He always visualized a social system based firmly on universal brotherhood, equality and justice. He died in 1969.
